Topic

“Climate Change Policy and Energy System in the Post COVID-19 Pandemic”

Abstract

The COVID-19 Pandemic has been heavily damaging the world economy and significantly influencing the issues of climate change and energy demand. Our study shows that as the world economy entered a period of New Normal, global CO2 emission decreased and energy consumption declined. However, we also concern that as global economy gradually reopens, the large-scale stimulating policies may induce a black and high carbon economic recovery. This study measures the impacts of the COVID-19 on the world economy, energy consumption and climate change and discusses the policy changes of climate and energy in the post-COVD-19 Pandemic Era. We suggest a Low-carbon Energy System aims at carbon neutrality and a Zero-emission Sustainable Society.
