ONLINE STAFF SEMINAR ON TUESDAY, JULY 13

We regularly hold Staff Seminars for research presentations and information exchanges among AGI Researchers.
We usually hold these seminars in person at our institute. However, this seminar will be held online in order to prevent the spread of the novel Coronavirus.

“戦後の大都市への人口移動の決定要因” (co-author with Kazuki Tamura and Hiroki Hoshina)

Abstract

 高度成長期以来、地方から大都市への人口移動の増減は経済成長率の増減と密接な関係を持ってきた。本稿では、この人口移動の要因として、次の諸変数の相対的重要性を計量的に分析する。

 ①地方の人口の減少(いわゆる余剰人口の枯渇)、
 ②都市と地方の賃金差及び一人当たり社会資本ストックの差の縮小
 ③失業率の地域間比率の変動

 本稿の分析は、要因②が、人口移動の変化の大部分を, 要因③が、短期的な景気変動によって生じる補完的な部分を説明することを明らかにする。さらに、①の説明力はないことも示す。
1970年初頭から強力に打ち出された「国土の均衡ある発展政策」が、農業保護や地方への公共投資の増大を通じて、地方の賃金と一人あたり社会資本ストックを、大都市に比べて相対的に引き上げた。これが、1970年以後大都市への人口移動の劇的な縮小をもたらし、経済成長率の急激な低下を招いたと考えられる。

【NOTE】

◇ Participants’ microphones will be turned on at the beginning. Please make sure to mute your microphone during the presentation. During a question-and-answer session scheduled at the end of the presentation, please unmute your microphone.
◇ If you would like to turn off your audio (microphone) and image (video), please click the microphone icon and video icon at the bottom left portion of your screen. The icons will be crossed by a red diagonal line.
