From Kitakyushu to the world: AGI, a research institute that studies Asia's economy and society
We are proud to announce that the name of our institute was changed on October 1, 2014.
The International Centre for the Study of East Asian Development(ICSEAD)

Asian Growth Research Institute(AGI)
The name was changed for the following reasons:
- To reflect the fact that the area of our research has been expanding beyond East Asia to include other parts of Asia.
- To clarify that the focus of our institute is on the growth of Asian countries as well as that of Japan and Kitakyushu.
- To make the name more concise and understandable on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of our institute.
