AGI invites distinguished speakers to deliver lectures at “Growth Strategy Forums” for the general public on topics such as economic and industrial trends in the international community, information that contributes to the development of the Kitakyushu region, and lessons from other countries’ experiences for enhancing economic growth.

The forthcoming Growth Strategy Forum will be jointly held by the City of Kitakyushu, the G7 Kitakyushu Energy Ministerial Meeting Promotion Office, and the U.S. Consulate to commemorate the “G7 Kitakyushu Energy Ministerial Meeting”, which will take place in May 2016. We will invite Professor Yost from the Institute for the Study of Diplomacy, Georgetown University, to talk about issues related to the world’s energy situation and energy security.

Lecture overview

To commemorate the “G7 Kitakyushu Energy Ministerial Meeting”, we will invite Professor Yost from the Institute for the Study of Diplomacy, Georgetown University, who is an expert on energy issues, US foreign policy, and national security with emphasis on the Middle East and East Asia. He will talk about issues related to the agenda and background of the G7 Summit, the world’s energy situation, and energy security.

Asian Growth Research Institute (AGI)

The name was changed for the following reasons:

  • To reflect the fact that the area of our research has been expanding beyond East Asia to include other parts of Asia.
  • To clarify that the focus of our institute is on the growth of Asian countries as well as that of Japan and Kitakyushu.
  • To make the name more concise and understandable on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of our institute.
