Description of institution: The Asian Growth Research Institute (AGI, formerly called the International Centre for the Study of East Asian Development or ICSEAD, Chairman: Koichi Sueyoshi; President: Tatsuo Hatta) was founded in 1989 and has been focusing on research on socioeconomic issues in Asia, aiming to promote international academic exchange as well as policy cooperation in Asia. The Institute has 10 researchers including Research Professor Charles Horioka. All researchers hold Ph.D. degrees and are from throughout the world (6 from Japan, 2 from the United States, 1 from China, and 1 from Korea). According to RePEc, our overall ranking within Japan is 11th (behind the Institute of Economic Research, Hitotsubashi University, and ahead of the Graduate School of Economics, Osaka University).
Job responsibilities: To conduct original academic research in economics and related fields and to engage in joint policy-oriented research. After promotion to Research Associate Professor or Research Professor, you may be asked to teach English-language courses in the graduate programs at Kyushu University and/or the University of Kitakyushu, where our Institute has adjunct positions.

13, Qualifications: Applicants must hold a Ph.D. degree in Economics or a related field or expect to receive such a degree by June 2016, have an interest in the Asian economies, have the ability to conduct original academic research and joint policy-oriented research, and have publications in international refereed journals or books.
14, Salary and benefits: Salaries are comparable to the salaries at Japanese public and national universities and depend on ability and experience. We offer a comprehensive package of benefits including retirement payments and health insurance. Furthermore, we offer research grants for conducting academic and policy-oriented research.
