What Kind of Cities Are Incubating More Vloggers? An Analysis of Influencing Factors on the Distribution of TikTok Vloggers in Chinese Cities
China leads globally in the adoption of the Internet and digital technologies. Online short videos, as a novel form of social media, are increasingly influencing socio-economic activities in Chinese cities. Vloggers who create and share video content on online platforms convey various topics including travel, lifestyle, education, reviews, and more. Their activities play a significant role in enhancing the competence and sustainability of cities. Despite vloggers’ growing impact on the cultural and economic aspects of urban life, what kind of cities are incubating more vloggers and why, have seldom been studied. This study aims to unveil the distribution pattern of vloggers in Chinese cities and the influencing factors of their distribution. The findings could aid urban managers in formulating more effective talent incubation and attraction policies in the digital economy era.
