Dr. Charles Yuji Horioka, our Board member and Distinguished Professor, assumed the office of President of the International Association for Research in Income and Wealth

Dr. Charles Yuji Horioka, our Board member and Distinguished Professor, assumed the office of President of the International Association for Research in Income and Wealth (IARIW) on August 28, 2024.
IARIW is a 77-year-old international association, and its first 2 presidents were both Nobel Prize winners, the first being Simon Kuznets and the second being Richard Stone. Dr. Horioka is the first person from an Asian country to assume the position of President of the Association.

Dr. Horioka also served as President of the Society of Economics of the Household (SEHO) from 2021 until 2023 and as President of the Japanese Economic Association (JEA) from 2023 until 2024.

Dr. Horioka was active in research at AGI as a Research Professor and Vice-President for 4.5 years from October 2014 until March 2019, and he is now contributing to the operation of AGI as a Board member and Distinguished Professor.
